Our History...
Rent-A-Spouse was started in 1989 when full-time
police Sgt. D.A. Stuart bought the
Hollowell House on South William Street, and found that it
was too costly to renovate it’s
historic 24 rooms to livable condition using the high priced
area contractors.
Sgt. Stuart took a year off from full time law enforcement
to do nothing but work on his newly
purchased money pit himself, but volunteering his abilities
to the Revolving Fund of the
Wayne County Historical Association, soon was called
upon by some of the members to do a few
small jobs for them.... and then their friends...and soon
this snowballed into a full time job and he
got to work on his house less and less. The one year turned
into several years and the company
Rent-A-Spouse came into existence and is rapidly
becoming a household name.
Specializing in the smaller jobs that the ‘Big Boys’ won’t
touch or will charge an arm and a leg for,
like the things that your ‘better half ‘ should, but can’t,
don’t or won’t do
(or doesn’t have enough time for).
From locks to leaks, glass to gutters, grass to trash
and just about anything in between!
(Because we love a challenge). We’re even the ones to
call when you don’t know who to call!!
Because if by chance you ask us to do a job we are not
capable of doing, we will tell you up
front, and we’ll even go so far as to refer you to someone
that we feel will do a good job for a
good price!
At Rent-A-Spouse we are true believers in the phrase
‘Competition builds business’ and because
we operate out of our home, we can be, and are, very
competitive. In addition to our free
estimates and reasonable rates, we can provide you with
excellent references from some of
the most prominent citizens in our community.

FREE VEHICLE REMOVAL &

We
will remove unwanted/abandoned vehicles from your
property at

COST
to you.
They will be stored and properly disposed of according
to NC DMV after 90 days.
We will collect the fees from the owner of the vehicle
when they claim it... If they claim it.
This gets the vehicle off of your property, out of your
way and you don't have to pay a wrecker, storage fees or
any other costs.
